White Rose and Aegis Trust

White Rose

Did you know, it is estimated in the UK that there is around £30 billion pounds worth of unused clothes just sat in people’s wardrobes and each year we send £140 million worth of clothing to the landfill? Did you also know that all of the new clothing your household purchases in a year amounts to the same level of carbon emissions as a car produces in 6 months? Let’s not throw things away! Revolution supports the White Rose shops who collect clothing via the recycling bins in our buildings. They are a great small charity who generate funds which then support the Aegis Trust. Have a read here for more information about that:

White Rose

Aegis Trust is an organisation which is educating people in countries where there has been genocide. The White Rose stores were started by some students in Nottingham who were so inspired by the work of Aegis.

White Rose now have a number of shops, and off the back of Revolution’s placement of bins and introduction to other agents in the North West, the aim is to open a retail unit in Manchester along with a sorting centre for the clothes collected.

White Rose can’t thank Revolution’s customers enough for their donations and Revolution can’t thank White Rose enough as a lot of the donations used to end up in landfill!

In 2018 we had seven sites active, some with more than one bin, and we raised:

£66,552!

Revolution is so proud of this achievement and looks forward to being part of a growing portfolio of bins for White Rose through 2019. If you live in a none Revolution building, please contact your managing agent and ask for a clothes bin today.

Love your clothes or recycle them.
